The ‘Everyday Amazing’ campaign promotes awareness of the needs of children, teenagers and young adults living with cancer in Northern Ireland. The year-long campaign, which commenced in November 2010, is the first of its kind for the charity and marks a significant new era for the future of its services.

The title of the campaign reflects the courage and spirit of families across Northern Ireland who are amazing, in so many ways, but in particular how they deal with the unenviable difficulties following a cancer diagnosis.

Speaking about the Everyday Amazing Campaign, NICFC Chief Executive Gillian Creevy said:

“Every week in Northern Ireland another three children, teenagers and young adults are diagnosed with cancer. This is a frightening statistic and we need to go further to reach out to these families and raise awareness of the problems they face.

“The rationale behind ‘Everyday Amazing’ came about because we truly believe that the children, young people and families that we help are amazing. We never fail to be overwhelmed by their honesty, courage and support; even in the face of this terrible illness. We also believe that our charity tries hard to be amazing every day in order to help such special families. Our families and young people are at the heart of what we do and we believe it is vital to give them a voice in determining NICFC’s future by featuring their experiences in the campaign.”

In order to make the campaign a reality, our families were willing to talk to us about their experiences. Each had their own individual and touching story to tell and we would like to take this opportunity to thank all the families involved, in particular, William, Aundrea, Sarah, Kathy, Maureen, Joe, Sinead, Gerald, Alison, Donella and Ellen.

The Everyday Amazing Campaign highlights the work of the charity through a series of television adverts, on the radio, in newspapers and magazines and through billboards. This has been made possible with the support of advertising agency AV Browne, and has been entirely funded by a private donor.
