Family Programme

At the NICFC, we believe the family is the safest and most secure environment for a child diagnosed with cancer. It is absolutely vital that additional stresses placed on the family are minimised.
How do we do this? Our approach is to adopt a hands-on approach and to provide emotional support to the parents and siblings of children who have been diagnosed with cancer.
We believe in building a trusting relationship with the families and individuals we work with, and to deliver quality support when it is needed most. Much of this is done by drawing on our own resources, experience and contacts within the healthcare sector; in addition, we are able to call upon many strands of support within Northern Ireland, from statutory, voluntary and charitable bodies.
The Family Programme consists of two Family Co-ordinators, Angela Rodgers and Jill Black, who work province-wide supporting families when it is needed most.

Do you feel a little isolated during the period when your child is in treatment, or perhaps you might just fancy some company and a chat?
Every Friday morning we hold informal welcome days from 10.30-12.30 at Curlew Pavilion. Everyone is welcome, there are great creative activities for the children/ young people of all ages, coffee/tea, and chat for the parents/grandparents.
We also organise coffee mornings across Northern Ireland.
