Fundraising

The NI Cancer fund for Children is a local, recognised charity giving vital support and making a positive contribution to the lives of young people diagnosed with cancer and their families. If you want to support the charity then we want to make it easy for you. If you have a fundraising query please click here.

The NI Cancer Fund for Children is a member of the Fundraising Standards Board (FRSB). In joining FRSB we have agreed to adhere to a strict set of codes and a Fundraising Promise committing us to treat the public with respect, fairness, honesty and clarity in all our money raising activities.

Community

Taking part in events organised by the Northern Ireland Cancer Fund for Children is another way in which you can help.

There are opportunities to participate in all kinds of events from abseils to parachute jumps, from auctions to marathons, from head shaves to quizzes.

Not only will you have the opportunity to take part in organised events, some of which although perhaps hair-raising, also help us to raise funds through sponsorship. It’s a matter of asking your friends or colleagues to encourage you to take part by pledging a donation to our work – then you take the plunge or get in training to achieve a result.

Similarly if you are involved in organising any event - a concert or a fete, a fun day or car boot sale – you can help us with a donation or proceeds, we would very much appreciate that benefit.

Can you help?

The answer is definitely yes. We welcome your help, even if it is an extra pair of hands to help with an organised event, a couple of hours of your time occasionally or better still regularly.

We’ll point you in the right direction if you come forward to offer help.

For the full range of upcoming events please click Events.

Corporate Support

Sponsorship

  • Sponsorship of one of our events, publications or campaigns can benefit your company by providing branding opportunities, enhancing your corporate image and increasing your profile through association with our celebrity supporters.

Affinity Marketing

  1. The charity has benefited in the past from a donation from a corporate partner when customers have agreed to sign up to direct debit payment method.

Cause Related Marketing - Sales and On-Pack Promotions

  1. Cause-related marketing includes event sponsorship, sales promotions or a donation of money, goods or services. It is not a philanthropic activity but a commercial activity with a measurable return on investment.

Payroll Giving

  • Payroll Giving is one of the easiest and most tax efficient ways to give to charity.
  • Once it is set up with your employer you have no more forms, cheques or letters to sign. You make your donation direct from your pay on a regular basis. For example, if you pledge £5 from your gross salary each month the cost to you is only £3.90 and the NI Cancer Fund for Children will receive £5.50.
  • All you need to do is contact us now and we will take the necessary details from you.

Employee Fundraising

  • Fundraising at work has many benefits! It can be a great way to increase morale and get to know your colleagues better, encourage inter-department and cross-site communications and co-operation and it has been known to introduce some healthy competition.
  • We have a dedicated fundraiser to help give you ideas or support. Or you can take part in one of our existing activities - see the events pages for more details.

Staff Volunteering

  • Ask if your company supports a volunteering scheme to allow you time to support the work and services of the NI Cancer Fund for Children.

Recycling

  • The Northern Ireland Cancer Fund for Children has launched a Recycling Appeal.
So if you have any old mobile phones or ink cartridges please get in touch!
Please support this appeal either at home or at work by recycling and donating your mobile phones and used printer cartridges. Simply log on to http://www.recyclingappeal.ie

Complete the form and choose the option to support the NI Cancer Fund for Children. A freepost envelop will be mailed to you. Fill it and put it back in the post. We will then receive the value of your donation.

Schools Fundraising

Welcome to the Northern Ireland Cancer Fund for Children's webpage for schools, youth groups and young people. Here are just a few of the popular events you can take part in. Please remember no matter how big or small your event, every penny you raise will help us make a difference to the lives of local children living with cancer.

We are here to help you every step of the way with your fundraising. If you would like to discuss a fundraising idea, request more information about any of these events or you would like to arrange a school visit, please contact Rachel on 028 9080 5599 or email rachel@nicfc.com

There are lots of ways in which a school can lend their support:

Read On

ReadOn is NICFC's most popular schools' fundraiser. During ReadOn week pupils agree to read books in return for sponsorship from family and friends. This event ties in well with schools' focus on literacy, and pupils are motivated to read for fun and to read more books in the knowledge that they are lending a helping hand to young people living with cancer. ReadOn is easy to organise and every pupil who takes part receives a bookmark and a pencil as a thank you!

ReadOn is the perfect event to hold on Childrens' Book Week: 4th - 10th October 2010!

Daisy Day

Add a splash of colour to the school day and help us celebrate Daisy Day, helping local children living with cancer to smile again. For a small donation to NICFC, pupils can wear an item of yellow clothing. It could be as simple as wearing a yellow scarf, hat or t-shirt, or pupils can go all out and wear yellow from head to toe.

Presents for Pounds

This December is Children's Cancer Awareness Month. Help raise vital funds to support young people with cancer this Christmas by participating in the Presents for £s appeal. Instead of children buying teachers and staff presents this Christmas, why not ask them to make a small donation to NICFC. We will supply schools and groups with donation envelopes for each child and posters to promote their event.

Similarly, if you have considered starting a group and using your spare time to help us raise funds in your area, please contact us for more details on what is involved.

What Support Groups mean to us

As a local charity assisting local families our support comes from local businesses, the community and groups of people who fundraise on our behalf. These individuals and groups live and work in Northern Ireland, and realising that many people have natural networks in their home towns, the support often comes via these links.

An active Support Group can be a small number of friends, or a larger group made up of local business people, or any gathering of men and/or women who have the energy, time and commitment to raise vital funds. The funds can be raised through hobbies, areas of expertise, involvement of the local community, sport, clubs..in fact the list is endless. The Support Group becomes the focal point for an area's fundraising, and its members then are associated with the charity, its aims and goals at that local level.

The answer is definitely yes. We welcome your help, even if it is an extra pair of hands to help with an organised event, a couple of hours of your time occasionally or better still regularly.
