Does your child have cancer?
How NICFC can help
When a child or young person is diagnosed with cancer, it affects the whole family. Often normal, everyday activities that you once did together become a thing of the past as treatment regimes and hospital visits become more regular. At NICFC we’re here to listen, help and support. We help families to build coping strategies during this time and provide emotional support in the home as well as practical support through the Family Support Service. Our Family Team works across Northern Ireland to provide support and we can travel to any home in the province at a time that is convenient to you. A home visit will give us a chance to have a chat about your particular circumstances and to see how we may be able to help. Our aim is to provide a listening ear and offer advice. During a home visit we can advise you on the following:
- Financial grants
- Respite opportunities
- Family Support Service
- Social events for families
- Managing your own health and well-being
- Bereavement Support
If your child or their sibling(s) are over 8 years old, we can make a referral to our Youth Programme.
