Does your mum or dad have cancer?
How NICFC can help
Understanding
When your mum, dad or carer is diagnosed with cancer, it can be difficult to deal with the changes that happen at home and you may feel scared, lonely and sad as you try to remain strong for your parents. Trying to juggle responsibilities at home as well as school work and exams and trying to spend time with your friends can be difficult, but the good news is that we are here to support you.
Young Shoulders Programme
Our Young Shoulders Programme has been designed to tackle issues such as separation anxiety, fears for the future, coping with school and family life and the stresses attached to difficult caring roles. The Programme aims to build confidence, boost resilience and develop coping strategies. It provides an excellent opportunity to make new friends in a similar situation, share experiences and have some fun.
Young Shoulders is available throughout Northern Ireland and includes a series of workshops which take place once a week for 5 weeks at a prearranged location in each county. At the end of the five weeks, a residential weekend is organised at Narnia.
