How We Can Help
Who We Support
NICFC supports children and young people aged 0-24. The Youth Programme caters specfically for children, teenagers and young adults aged 8-24. We recognise that all three groups have different needs and interests, so the Programme is divided into three sections: KACTUS (8-11 years), TACT (12-17 years ) and 18+ (18-24 years ) and these groups extend to Sibling Support and Young Shoulders.
KACTUS- Kids Against Cancer That’s Us!
The KACTUS group is open to children aged 8 to 11 and provides opportunities to make new friends and have fun. KACTUS offers a wide range of activities including outdoor pursuits, arts and crafts, trips to ice hockey and rugby games, motor bike trials, pantomime outings, and many of Northern Ireland’s favourite attractions and much more.
TACT- Teens Against Cancer Together
We work with teenagers and young adults from the age of 12 up to 17. We recognise that this can be a difficult age for any teenager, let alone when they have to deal with cancer as well. TACT is an ideal platform for young people to make friends with others in similar situations and share their fears, hopes and anxieties. Through regular group activities, TACT aims to build confidence, tackle the issue of isolation and develop a range of coping strategies. TACT groups have access to some extraordinary activities such as football matches, concerts, sailing trips, pampering days, go-karting, outdoor pursuits, 10-pin bowling, cinema visits and graffiti art days. Some of our most intrepid TACT members even sailed the 800 miles Balboa – Galapagos leg of the Gypsy Moth IV world expedition!
18+ Group
We recognise that our older teenagers and those in their early 20s have very specific social needs and interests, so we set up our 18+ Group for young people aged 18-24. As well as the full range of TACT activities, we offer specially tailored events for young people in this age range, such as social outings, visits to the theatre and meals out together.
